남한산성

Namhansanseong

A mountain fortress stretching 12 km south of Seoul,
built as an emergency capital for the Joseon Dynasty.
In 1636, King Injo took refuge here during the Qing invasion,
holding out for 47 days within walls that sheltered temples,
military posts, and a royal palace.
UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014 —
and one of Korea's most beloved hiking destinations today.
